Mark Wester is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate LCSWA, LCASA with 6 years experience supporting individuals facing challenges with both mental health and addictions. He began his career in mental health as a certified peer support specialist (CPPS) drawing on his own life experience to support his clients and then returned to college to earn his master’s in social work from Walden University. He has provided support to clients struggling with anxiety, depression, borderline personality disorder, schizophrenia, and post-traumatic stress disorder. Mark believes that effective therapy is a client-centered approach in which the counselor works collaboratively with the individual to develop treatment plans with incremental steps to achieve the client’s goals for their own personal recovery and wellness.

To empower clients to meet these steps, Mark shares principles and tools found in cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and trauma-informed therapy.  Mark is LGBTQIA affirming and is actively educating his self and others about the unique challenges that individuals in the community face. He is also seeking to better understand how racism, sexism, ageism, and ableism negatively impact individuals to better support his clients. Mark believes in a holistic approach to treatment recognizing the importance of physical, emotional, mental, and emotional health. He also believes spirituality may be a very important part of an individual’s journey and encourages them on their own path.

Mark’s personal time is primarily focused on spending time with his family including his wife, children, and the grandchildren. He also enjoys researching different points of view regarding spirituality and current events believing that an understanding of these opposing views will enable us to empathize with others and develop equitable solutions.
