Ashley is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCAS) who has worked with individuals and families across the lifespan since 2015. She has worked with children, adolescents and adults in schools, group, residential programs, and in office based settings. Ashley is an ally for the Neurodiverse and LGBTQIA+ community. She actively educates self and others on anti-racist principles to better support BIPOC clients. She has a special interest in working with trauma, addiction, and eating disorders/disordered eating.
Ashley primarily incorporates Acceptance and Commitment Therapy into her therapeutic approach. ACT is a process in which we explore what is important to you and what makes life worth living while looking at attempts to avoid and the function of avoidance. Experiential avoidance has been broadly defined as attempts to avoid thoughts, feelings, memories, physical sensations, and other internal experiences—even when doing so creates harm in the long run. We all do this to some degree. For some, we do this more than others as a way to protect ourselves and it kind of works…until it doesn’t anymore. In therapy we take a look together, with some willingness, to get a little curious about experiential avoidance.
Ashley is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) and approaches trauma that is individualized to what’s coming up for you. What may “click” for you, may not “click” for someone else. She is inspired by humanistic traditional talk therapy, somatic interventions, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and cognitive processing. Additionally, Ashley utilizes Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) techniques to restore connection and promote resilience in family relationships when providing family therapy.
Ashley’s approach is relaxed, focused on authentic connection to support the therapeutic process while providing trauma-informed care. On a personal note, Ashley is a person in recovery who honors that everyone has their own path to recovery. She enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, and baking.
