As a part of our Holistic approach to care, Chinese Medicine shines with its approach in treating the whole person – mental and physical – at the same time. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the mental and physical are not seen as separate entities. Chinese medicine alone or in combination with other treatments can improve mental and physical health outcomes. Our bodies have an amazing ability to heal and Chinese Medicine assists that natural ability through acupuncture, Qi Gong, herbal medicine, dietary changes, moxibustion, and other interventions.

Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a gentle, minimally invasive form of Chinese medicine with theory and practice dating back thousands of years and widespread modern application. It has a range of benefits through its ability to provide a regulatory effect on the entire body, targeting the root causes of imbalances that cause disease.
Ultra fine needles are inserted into select acupuncture points and meridians along the body to restore the proper flow of blood and energy, and thereby promoting a state of healing. Depending on the condition, multiple sessions are typically required for ongoing support and lasting change, as acupuncture works with the body’s natural ability to restore balance. Common areas of treatment where acupuncture shines includes but isn’t limited to stress, anxiety, acute or chronic pain, insomnia, digestive disturbances, women’s health, fertility, seasonal ailments, auto-immune disorders, general wellness and longevity. For conditions involving pain, electrical stimulation (e-stim) may be incorporated to aid in relaxing muscle tone and tension, increasing blood flow and restoring nerve health. This modern form of treatment delivers gentle currents of electricity via electrodes that are attached to the acupuncture needles into select areas of the body.
Herbal Medicine
Chinese herbal medicine has the ability to treat deep imbalances within our body, and may be used in conjunction with your acupuncture treatments. These therapies utilize traditional and modern formulas typically administered as tablets or capsules to treat a wide range of conditions from simple seasonal allergies to more complex chronic ailments. Your unique presentation will always be taken into account when considering the appropriate formulas.
Adjunctive Services Included
Moxibustion
The dried and cultivated form of the well-known herb, mugwort, is burned and applied near the surface of the skin as a therapeutic means to reduce pain and swelling, regulate blood flow, and boost immunity through its deeply warming properties.
Cupping, Gua Sha, Tui Na
These hands-on methods are used to treat conditions involving chronic and acute pain, stress and anxiety, stiffness and swelling. Cupping and gua sha are traditional therapies with East Asian origin used to encourage blood flow to the superficial and deep tissues of the body thereby reducing pain, swelling and inflammation. Tui Na translates as “push-grasp,” and is a type of East Asian massage that focuses on moving energy and blood through the meridians and acupuncture points on the body. Movements are swift and continuous and may involve superficial or deep pressure depending on the area being treated.
Qi Gong
Pronounced (Chee-Gong), Qi gong is a type of exercise to harmonize the mind, body and spirit. Certain movements paired with breath work and meditation are used as a means to cultivate and regulate the energy flow within your body. Like all forms of Chinese medicine, these exercises help the body achieve a greater state of balance and well-being.
