As Shelly has been personally affected by addiction and the devastation it can bring to a family,
she is passionate about helping people who are living with this terrible affliction. She also
specializes in treating the co-occurring disorders that often accompany addiction, such as
depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, low self-worth, shame & guilt, and family discord.
Shelly's approach to counseling is person-centered, compassionate, non-judgmental, and safe. She
will work with clients to learn new tools and coping strategies as they navigate recovery and
what works for their lifestyle moving forward. Her approach typically involves cognitive
behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical behavioral
therapy (DBT), mindfulness, and self-compassion skills. Shelly wants to help people recognize
their self-worth and believe in themselves again.
Shelly and her husband, along with their Dachshund and Rottweiler, moved from Connecticut to Asheville, North Carolina in November of 2020. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, reading, knitting, traveling, game nights, yoga, and cooking.
